Not All Waterless Wash and Waxes are created equal!
The TRUTH about waterless wash and waxes!
We've been in the waterless market for almost 20years now and we've seen a lot of products come and a lot of products go!
One thing remains constant, there is always a market for a waterless wash and wax.
BUT
Not all are the same, and not as some people claim, are made in the same factory by the same manufacturer for all the different brands!
To create a great waterless wash and wax, or even a fantastic waterless wash Ceramic, you need three main ingredients.
- detergents
- surfactants
- wax or ceramic finish
How you put them together is a different story altogether.
SO, why are they not created equal!
It's simple, its either what they do put in them or what they dont.
Unfortunately our industry on Waterless Products is TV shopping driven, and to make a great demo, we use tar and bang it on the bonnet, we use paint and apply to the bonnet, we sometimes set fire to lighter fluid, ALL GREAT DEMO'S and show the product really well.
AND HERE IS WHERE IT ENDS
Most products on the market like to show how 'gloopy' their product is BECAUSE IT LOOKS GOOD ON TV AND YOU MOBILE SCREEN!
THE INCONVIENIENT TRUTH BEHIND THIS AND IT'S NOT GOOD!
To achieve the gloop effect most are filled out with chalk or talcum powder basically and this thickens the product up to make it highly visible on screen!
THIS IS BAD FOR YOUR CAR!
What happens when these products are then applied to your vehicles surface, any seals, like your BMW shark fin ariel, which similar ariel's are found on Citroen, Audi, Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Volvo, Ford, the chalk will attack these and within a year or so, will start to dry out the rubber causing it to literally disintegrate before your very eyes.
NOW this doesnt just apply to the rubber round your ariel, it APPLIES to ALL the RUBBER in your car.
- Windscreen wiper blades - AN ESSENTIAL PART OF YOUR CAR AND MOT INSPECTED
- Window seals
- Door seals
- Handle seals
- Rubber and older plastic trims - Citreon, Fiat, Ford and Vauxhall's are all extremely liable to black plastics looking like a wave effect, or tree lines across the surface as they dry out and start decomposing.
ALL THIS FROM A SIMPLE WATERLESS WASH AND WAX INGREDIENT.
We've had a comment this week from a customer telling us that our waterless is very liquidy compared to his old brand and he's going back to it. We've spoken with him and he drives a Jaguar XE and he replaced the rubber seal round the fin on his roof last year. He started using his better waterless brand 8 months ago after he bought his car. EVEN the Jaguar dealer told him it wasnt warranty as he's been using products that interfere with the car's seals integrity!
So look, buying a waterless wash and wax is simple to do, you'll see them on TIK TOK, you'll see them on Shopping TV, you'll see them all over social media, BUT always ask why they can be soo cheap!
It's because some people are happy to put crap in them. As long as the short term effects look good.
WHY IS SHELBY WATERLESS PRODUCTS DIFFERENT!
It's because we're owned by a family who've been involved in this industry for so long and seen so many cheap crap dress up for a night out, but underneath they're still crap!
This family is passionate about bringing quality products to the market and their customers. They dont scrimp and save on whats in the bottle.
That means they can give a cast iron guarantee that their Waterless products will not dry out rubber, will not scratch, will not damage the environment (lets not even get started on the ingredients used by some top brands and the effect they have on not only the environment, but your skin too!)
The Shelby Waterless Wash and Wax has a higher content of detergent and surfactant than ANY other product out there. The Shelby Waterless Wash products has higher levels of wax and ceramic, and this time we'll state for the record, not just silicones others have packed in their bottles, but actual Carnauba wax, REAL Carnauba wax and actual ceramic compounds ready to coat your car!
BUT that means one major thing, we cant compete with the cheap brands your seeing all over the place. We WONT compete with the cheap brands your seeing all over the place.
We ran our own independent tests with a University and found that with 5 products tested we had at least 7% higher concentration of detergent, 4.8% higher concentration of Surfactants, and in three of the brands 100% more wax - silicone isn't as a wax boys so stop cheating and saying a carnauba wax like finish - IT ISNT!
Unless your Waterless carries an unequivocal cast iron guarantee not to scratch your vehicles surface. And won't interfere with your rubber and plastics integrity, and unless they state this product will NOT risk an MOT fail because the wiper blades are decomposing, then you pay your money, you take your chances.
